Following the March 2024 devaluation, Axis Bank delivered another blow to Magnus cardholders in February 2025 — partner airline redemption ratios have dropped further.
Axis Bank announced further changes to the EDGE Miles programme effective February 2025, affecting all Magnus and Magnus Burgundy cardholders.
Key changes: - Air India redemption ratio reduced from 1:2 to 1:1.5 (EDGE Miles to miles) - Vistara miles were merged into Air India in 2024; legacy Vistara transfers now apply Air India rates - International partner airlines cap redemption at 50,000 miles per statement cycle
The March 2024 devaluation had already cut the base earn rate on spends above ₹1.5L/month. This February update specifically targets redemptions, making the Magnus less competitive against the HDFC Infinia and the new ICICI Emeralde Private Metal.
Magnus Burgundy cardholders — who pay ₹12,500 per year — get a marginally better earn multiplier (1.2x EDGE Miles on overseas spends) but face the same redemption ratio cuts.
Analysts in our community now rate the Magnus at 3.8/5 (down from 4.6/5 in 2023). We recommend reassessing the card's fit if your primary use case is international travel redemptions.
